Insurance Management
 

One of the main membership benefits that can be used for recruitment and retention has in recent years become group insurance. Whether it's offering Malpractice Insurance or Errors and Omissions Insurance, purchasing it through a group can save the member hundreds if not thousands of dollars. To maximize the commission to the association, they need to undertake to do some of the paper work and promotion of the insurance plans. This means mounting renewal efforts and tracking costs, plus billing where necessary.

The above is an example one screen that was developed on a custom basis for a client that sells E&O insurance to members. This allows the operator to track how long the member has had the insurance and reports within the system allow for generating the premiums which must be forwarded on to the insurance companies. Not only a member retention tool, properly managed it can be a revenue generator for the association as well.

In some professions, insurance is a requirement of the trade, and as such becomes an excellent area for the association to become involved in. This is not only for the potential revenue the association might make, but also to protect members from exorbitant prices which could be better managed through a group plan.

In the example above, an added feature required by the client was the need to capture faxes and assign them to members so they could be viewed. These applications came in primarily by fax, but those that came in by mail are scanned with a high speed scanner, then both types are attached to a member's record. Operators can then call up these records at the press of a button -- the fax button in this case. For this functionality, Mendon Associates created a Fax Server application integrating the FaxMan software from Data Techniques, Inc. into our MA Association Manager software.
