Web-Site Uploader Module
The Web-Site Uploader Module is a
software add-on product that loads data into the MA
Circulation Manager data bases from ASCII files download
from a form on a web-site and sent to the circulation
manger via a MAILTO type program residing on the
web-server. The module includes up to six hours of custom
programming to match the fields from your web-site form
with the fields in the MA Circulation Manager.
Alternately, you can also contract the professionals at
Mendon Associates Inc. to write your form in a HTML or
ASP file format.It is integrated with the MA
Circulation Manager, the subscription fulfillment
program, providing an all-in-one type environment for
publishing functions off of the internet. Specifically,
once a subscriber has filled in your web-site based data
entry form, and hits the SUBMIT button, it is generally
then sent to you as an e-mail message. But collecting a
number of these messages and saving them into a text file
(using the "Save As" option in your e-mail
software), you can up load that data without re-keying it
into the system.
The Uploader first prompts you for the name of the
ASCII file, then it reads it. The file must have on each
relevant line a field name, and some delimiter -- such as
a colon or equals-sign. After the delimiter must be the
data provided by the subscriber on-line or data
hard-coded into the form. After reading and parsing each
line, the data is stored to a temporary table, from where
the system goes out and checks to see if the subscriber
exists on the list. If there, the old data is saved in a
backup data base so that the process can be undone,
should the operator decide to at a later time. If the
Uploader does not find the reader, it adds a new record
with the data provided on-line. Reports can be produced
to see who has been added and changed.
This module will greatly increase the efficiency and
productivity of any publication/publishing company which
takes data from a Web-Site.
